West Kirby man, 61, charged following knife attack outside Wirral school

A 61 year-old man will appear in court today after a knife attack outside a Wirral school.

Devonshire Park primary school in Prenton was evacuated and closed for the day after a woman suffered a knife wound to her hand.

The woman, a parent at the school, was walking back to her car after dropping her children off when she was injured.

Police said a man had now been charged with threats to kill and threatening a person with a bladed/sharply pointed article in a public place.

John Taylor, also known as John Tate, of Greenbank Road, West Kirby, has also been charged with assault, intimidating a witness in civil proceedings and breach of a non-molestation order.

He is also charged with a public order offence in relation to a separate incident on May 6.

He has been remanded in custody to appear before Liverpool magistrates this morning The Temple Road school was due to re-open today after being closed all day yesterday.
