UPDATE: Wirral students treated for burns after science lab accident

Emergency services attended St Mary’s College in Wallasey at 9am this morning after reports two students had suffered burns in a lab accident.

One of the students, 15, was then taken to Alder Hey Hospital, Liverpool for further treatment to burns and has since been discharged.

St Mary’s College told us in a statement:

“The School can confirm that a spillage has occurred at the school this morning.

“A number of students who were close to the spillage, as a precaution, were taken to hospital and all have since been discharged.

“The school is working in full co-operation with the Health and Safety Executive, the police and the ambulance service to investigate the incident fully.”

 

Merseyside Fire and Rescue service did attend the incident however the fire service was not required and subsequently all teams were stood down.
