The body of a teenage girl was found dead in woodland near Runcorn this morning [Sunday].
Police cordoned off a wooded area of parkland by Walsingham Drive in Sandymoor Sunday morning.
Cheshire Police have confirmed a 14-year-old girl had been found dead at the scene but said they were not treating the death as suspicious.
Emergency services were at the scene well into the afternoon, with the cordon around the area remaining in place.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At 9.09am on Sunday 15 October police were called following the discovery of a body near Walsingham Drive, Runcorn.
“Officers attended the scene where they found the body of a 14-year-old girl. Next of kin has been informed and a post mortem will take place in due course.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
