Merseyside Police investigating man who praised the Brussels terror attacks online

Merseyside Police are investigating a man claiming to be from Liverpool who praised the Brussels attackers online.

In a series of tweets the male, who we’re not naming, congratulated those responsible for the blasts that killed 34 people.

“I was really proud of those who carried-out #BelgiumAttacks #MoreToCome,” he posted.

Continuing with: “RIP for those who carried-out #BelgiumAttacks Germany, Denmark, UK next….”

Merseyside police confirmed to Wirral Online that it is looking into the posts but “initial enquiries suggest the tweets emanate from Nigeria, and are not linked to the Merseyside area.”

Hate crime investigations are part of that unit.

The tweets were geo-located to the Anfield area of Liverpool.

The posts have since been removed from the social media account but had been screengrabbed.

We also contacted Twitter about the account but the company said it does not comment on individual users.
