A man died after police were called to a home following concerns about his safety.
Up to seven police cars and ambulances arrived at the Slatey Road address in Birkenhead , just before 10am today.
It is thought the victim may have suffered stab wounds in the incident, which unfolded near the Williamson Art Gallery and Museum.
Residents saw officers carry out a knife from the property which was covered in blood.
The victim was rushed to Arrowe Park Hospital , where he died.
No arrests have been made following the man’s injuries and it is thought his wounds were self-inflicted.
Onlookers watched as the man was given frantic CPR on the pavement outside the home.
This afternoon [3:00PM], the address remained cordoned off, along with neighbouring homes.
A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: “We are currently in attendance at a house on Slatey Road, Birkenhead.
“Officers were called to the address at 9.50am today, Friday 10 June, to reports of concern for the safety of a male.
“Ambulance crews attended and took the male to Arrowe Park Hospital where he subsequently died.
“An investigation is currently ongoing.”
The dead man has not yet been named and next of kin are being informed.
