Birkenhead man admits allowing £200K MDMA factory

A man today admitted allowing his Wirral home to be used for the production of Class A drug MDMA (ecstasy).

Merseyside Police raided a property in Clifton Road, Birkenhead on 4th February this year, they discovered a large quantity of white powder, a pill press and shotgun cartridges.

Officers arrested Patrick McCool, 54, and was later charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

When Patrick McCool appeared at Liverpool Crown Court this morning via video link, he pleaded guilty to an alternate charge of permitting premises to be used for the production of a Class A drug.

Defending McCool, Anna Duke asked for a pre-sentence report for McCool and the opportunity for the defence to get their own valuation of the drugs, therefore the Judge adjourned sentencing until August 14 and remanded him in custody.

After carrying out forensic tests on the shotgun cartridges no charges were pursued.
